Congratulations to Steph Abbott, who has taken on the role of director of knowledge & learning at Herbert Smith Freehills, heading the function globally. Abbott, who is based in Australia, was previously a director at Janders Dean, which works closely with HSF.

HSF’s current global head of knowledge management, Mark Collins, is moving on from the UK top 10 global firm.

Prior to joining Janders Dean in 2015, Abbott consulted through Kitsune Consulting but she has a long law firm pedigree. From 2011 to December 2014 she was director of knowledge management, learning and development at Mayer Brown, and before that she was learning and development manager at Gilbert + Tobin. She started out as a commissioning editor at LexisNexis.

Commenting on the hire on LinkedIn, HSF’s chief operating officer Nicole Bamforth said: “Thank you to [Janders Dean founder] Justin North for making this possible. We are delighted to welcome Steph Abbott to our team and look forward to continuing to work with Janders Dean.”
