Revealed – the impact of the HP split on the WorkSite DMS – er, absolutely nothing

So… having “let go” the former CEO Leo Apotheker for suggesting that HP should be split into two companies, the company’s new CEO Meg Whitman has performed a U-turn of such ferocity that it has left skid marks all across Silicon Valley. As from November 2015, the company will  be split into two separate corporations: HP Inc, which will be looking after PCs and printer (or Tin & Ink – yes, maybe the new name should be HP Ink) and HP Enterprise, comprising the server, storage, networking, converged systems, services and software divisions – including the HP Autonomy division, home of the legal market’s most widely used DMS HP WorkSite. But what does this change mean for HP WorkSite – the short answer is “absolutely nothing”.
We spoke to Geoff Hornsby, the EMEA director of Regional Sales, who said that apart from changing their internal reporting responsibilities (and requiring another change of business cards) it would be business as usual for his team and WorkSite customers. Hornsby added that despite several changes of ownership – from iManage to Interwoven – to Autonomy – to HP – and now to HP Enterprise – the WorkSite group has managed to retain the same sales, support and development team. We also hear from other sources that HP has decided to drop the toxic Autonomy brand and rebrand the WorkSite division as being part of HP Software.
