UK #Vendor : LSSA (the Legal Software Suppliers Association) announced that Glyn Morris will take over as Chief Executive on 30th June 2015 when the current Chief Executive Roger Hancock retires. “I’m delighted to be taking over as Chief Executive of the LSSA. Roger Hancock will be an almost impossible act to follow. To many Roger has been ‘Mr LSSA’ and the organisation owes him a huge debt of gratitude for his inspirational guidance over his tenure.” comments Glyn Morris. “I am looking forward to helping the Association with the hurdles of a changing legal market and the rapid rate of change required to accommodate the new technical and commercial realities of the next few years.” The appointment means Glyn will be leaving Advanced Legal. “I’ve thoroughly enjoyed my time as Chief Executive of the LSSA” adds Roger Hancock. “It’s time for me to hand over the reins after an 18 year tenure and I can’t imagine a better person to take over than Glyn.”
UK #Vendors : Linetime just announced the addition of Andy Hawley to its account management team. Andy brings a wealth of experience to the firm having worked previously for Iris (as was), Thompson Reuters and most recently Peppermint. Andy will join the team responsible for the promotion of the Liberate, client centric legal platform.
UK #Vendors : Iain Jones, best known for his time with OpenText, is the new Regional Sales Manager for the digital signature tech group ARX CoSign. He was previously a consultant for legal solutions with Format14.
UK #Vendors : Veyo the new home conveyancing portal developed by The Law Society and Mastek UK and scheduled to launch this Spring 2015, has appointed Stefanie van den Haak as Commercial Director. Stefanie will be heading up the sales and business development team. She has held senior sales and business development roles at Lawtel (Centaur Media) and Thomson Reuters Westlaw. Most recently was Sales & Partnerships Director at Quality Solicitors.  Organisation (QSO) Ltd, a group of 260 solicitor offices. Veyo has also appointed Richard Garland as the new Head of Business Development. Garland has worked with QualitySolicitors, 360 Legal Group and Ochresoft Technologies.
#APAC : LexisNexis Pacific has promoted two of its senior leaders with the appointments of Joanne Beckett to the role of General Manager of Australia and Rachel Travers to Managing Director of New Zealand. The promotions follow the departure of Marc Peter, the former COO of LexisNexis Pacific who has relocated to LexisNexis UK as Director of Sales and Marketing. Joanne and Rachel have also promoted a number of internal staff to new in-market leadership roles designed to drive local growth through delivering next generation productivity, collaboration, workflow and analytics solutions. Previously Executive Director Content Solutions at LexisNexis, Joanne joined the company in 2006 after running her own legal practice. As Executive Director of New Zealand, Rachel Travers drove the development of strategic new content across all LexisNexis Pacific markets, and prior to that, as NZ Head of Content and Product Development, was responsible for growth and strategy of the research, professional development and magazines businesses. Rachel joined LexisNexis from CCH New Zealand in 2010.
UK #Lawfirms : UK insurance industry legal firm Horwich Farrelly has made two key new appointments. Tony Barker, previously at Keoghs, has been appointed as Business Development Director and Paul Cheetham has joined from Slater & Gordon to take on the role of IT Director.
UK #lawfirms : Graham Vincent, the IT Strategy & Delivery Manager at Addleshaw Goddard LLP, is moving next month to Lester Aldridge LLP as Head of IT.
Tom OConnor#Ediscovery : Advanced Discovery, a litigation support company, has hired the legendary Tom O’Connor to augment its consulting and knowledge leadership services. Tom O’Connor has been a consultant, author and speaker in the field of automated litigation systems and electronic discovery for the past 30 years. During that time, he has helped to shape the initiative to incorporate electronically stored information (ESI) into the discovery process with his three books and hundreds of articles in national publications. As senior eDiscovery consultant, Tom will be assisting Advanced Discovery clients in database design, implementation and training as well as eDiscovery-specific issues such as retention policies, litigation holds and document exchange protocols. Additionally, Tom will be presenting at major legal conferences and writing for national legal publications. He will also be contributing weekly posts to the Advanced Discovery blog.
#Ediscovery : Venio Systems, a provider of integrated ediscovery software for corporations, law firms and service providers, has hired Robert Childress III as its Senior Vice President, Marketing & Sales. Childress will be responsible for driving revenue for the company and building relationships with its partners. Robert Childress was co-founder and president of Wave Software for seven years and continues to own and lead the Masters Conference. In addition, Venio has hired Babs Deacon as its Vice President of Training & Education. Deacon specializes in providing consulting, project management and data reduction services to law firms, corporations and government clients, including management of the 9/11 WTC project for the Law Department of the City of New York.
#Ediscovery: LDM Global has promoted Jeff Gosling to vice president of global sales and marketing. North America #Vendors : NetDocuments announced that Robert “Bobby” Tindel has joined the company as Vice President of Service Delivery. Bobby brings with him over 26 years of experience in law firm executive and technology management, providing oversight and governance towards the delivery of services to an expanding customer base.He was most recently at Hyperion Global Partners.
North America #Vendor : Janet Tirado has joined Wilson Legal Solutions as the company’s Communications Manager. In this capacity, Janet will be your point of contact for any PR-related communication. Janet is an award-winning communications expert with 20 years of experience in advertising, public relations, social media and marketing. Originally from Florida, she moved to the Philadelphia area in 2001, earning an MA from La Salle University shortly thereafter.
North America #Vendors : Ontario-based TitanFile Inc, a secure file sharing and correspondence platform for professionals and other businesses, just announced that Chris Stoate has joined the company as CEO. Stoate comes to TitanFile with extensive experience in launching new services and building distribution channels targeting mid-sized and large enterprises. Since September 1987, Stoate served as founder and president of LaserNetworks Inc, the largest independent managed print services provider in North America, which was bought by Xerox Canada in 2012.
#LawLibrary : Following the news of its intention to expand its operations to create one of the UK’s largest book distribution centres, Hammicks just announced that Alison Baccar has joined the business as Sales Director. In this role, Alison will help drive sales not only of Hammicks information management services such as Hammicks Direct, Hammicks Managed Services and Hammicks Audit Management but also the new software and services solutions brought by Hammicks partners such as Office Manager from Law Client and Mondaq. Alison joins from ADT where she was Director, CRE and Program Management having previously been Head of Inside Sales and Customer Services at Graydon UK and Head of Sales Operations at Wolters Kluwer. Alison takes over as Sales Director from Kia Bing-Davies who has moved to a new group change management role within Hammicks’ parent company JS Group. +
Et in Legal IT Arcadia ego : Finally, we are sad to report the recent death of Bill Keen, who ran the Legal sales team in the London office of Kienzle – back in the 1980s when Kienzle dominated the UK legal accounts systems market. Bill gave the likes of Graham Mills and Harry Townsend their first jobs in this sector. And, Peter Birley, the former Head of IT at UK law firm Browne Jacobson and later an independent consultant, passed away last month.
