Vendor Deals: a flurry of activity on which to end the week

Holmes & Hills invests in the future with SOS Connect
Holmes & Hills has signed a six-figure deal for SOS Connect from Solicitors Own Software (SOS) as part of its drive to harness technology to deliver an enhanced service to clients. The firm is replacing its legacy legal solution with SOS Connect for integrated practice and case management. Holmes & Hills is a full service law firm with approaching 100 people based in five offices across Essex and Suffolk.
Managing partner Mark Cornell says the decision was taken to opt for a single firmwide solution after many years with its previous providers. “One of the main catalysts was that we had new people joining us who had worked with SOS, and they opened our eyes about the efficiencies we may be missing. This led to the realisation that the disjointed IT platforms which we’d been using for around 20 years were actually holding us back. We spoke to several providers and decided to opt for SOS Connect because it stood out, both in terms of the product and the people behind it.”

Record quarter for Eclipse Legal Systems
Law Society Endorsed legal software provider, Eclipse Legal Systems, has reported strong ‘new-client’ quarterly results. The 3-month period 1st October 2014 – 31st December 2014 saw a total of 36 firms sign contracts to implement Eclipse’s Proclaim Case and Practice Management Software solutions. The new clients range from established high-street practices through to boutique operators and new startups. Eclipse highlights this last point as evidence of a renewed surge of entrepreneurial activity in the legal sector, with the new startups comprising both green-field businesses and ‘demergers’ away from established and larger legal services providers.

Record breaking 37 firms go with Elite 3E
Thomson Reuters Elite this week announced that the market adoption of 3E reached an all-time high in 2014, with 37 firms deciding to implement the industry-leading solution. The trend of firms transitioning from Elite’s legacy Enterprise system to 3E has also continued in 2014, with more than twice as many Enterprise firms moving to 3E than in 2013 and more than triple those in 2012. By our calculations there are now approximately 165 firms globally either on 3E or committed to implementing it – compared with approx 700-to-710 firms still on Enterprise.
