Although the announcement by Veyo of its £20 per transaction pricing structure on Monday has stirred up a lot of comment – and questions, including how the Veyo system will integrate with existing case and practice management systems already in use in law firm conveyancing departments – Veyo is not the only development we are seeing at the moment…
• Also this week LexisNexis Enterprise Solutions announced that Lexis Visualfiles supports full, out-of-the-box integration with Land Registry’s electronic Document Registration Service (e-DRS). Land Registry offers a 50% fee reduction for certain applications when they are lodged electronically, so conveyancing firms using Visualfiles can reduce the cost of registrations, minimise errors and reduce risk through electronic audit trails.
Visualfiles is currently the only case management system to fully integrate with both the Information Services and e-DRS offered through Land Registry’s business to business transactional channel – Business Gateway. This means that conveyancers using Visualfiles can automate the entire process – from accessing Land Registry information, through to creating and submitting applications in XML format. Unlike other case management system integrations where users have to manually input information into the e-DRS portal, Visualfiles automatically processes the details into Land Registry’s format, delivering it within seconds via e-DRS. In addition, Visualfiles seamlessly automates the collection of the Title Register into Visualfiles, enabling conveyancers to record, review and check the accuracy of the changes made.
“Land Registry is pleased that Lexis Visualfiles now integrates with our systems through Business Gateway, our automated service for case management systems to access our property records,” said James Rippin, Business Gateway Product Manager at Land Registry. “This enables their clients to have seamless, automated connectivity when lodging applications to change the Register, and receive their application results in PDF and XML formats – improving accuracy and speed whilst reducing risk.”
Land Registry’s transaction for value data from 2013 shows that more than 60% of sales carried out by the UK’s 10 largest conveyancers, are undertaken using Visualfiles.This integration in Visualfiles is enabled by LexisNexis’ partnership with Zylpha, a provider of secure electronic document production and delivery solutions, for niche, complementary, add-on solutions.
• Meanwhile up in Scotland, there is growing concern among software developers over the fact Revenue Scotland still hasn’t provided adequate details on how its new LBTT tax – which replaces SDLT on 1st April – will work technically, its schema, business rules and how esubmissions will be handled. As one software company (who has 11 issues outstanding) put it “They make HMRC appear in a golden light of well organised, forward thinking and keen in fact to welcome IT into their world, heroes in comparison.”
