Philips has an insanely great idea for putting digital dictation in the cloud – and making it attractive!
Speech Processing Solutions, the company behind the Philips brand of digital recording devices, has just launched a new service – called SpeechLive – that aims to make digital dictation and transcription a Cloud-based, commodity-priced solution. The service is device and platform independent – and its pricing – which is a fraction of that being charged by other service providers – looks like being both attractive and disruptive. We’ll be testing the service next month.

The Inside Legal IT show review
We have a review of some of the highlights and new product launches at last week’s Inside Legal IT expo in London, including a look at new launches from Millnet, SDLT, Slicedbread, Tikit, Brainloop and the show-stoping Applied Cognitive Engine from RAVN, which brings artificial intelligence to legal document content summarisation. Timekeeping competition hots up
Our report on the standings in the Time Recording & Timekeeping section on the Insider Top 200 chart certainly prompted everyone to try harder. Intapp is now back at #1 with 31 UK firms to its name, followed by Rekoop in 28 and Tikit Carpe Diem in 27 firms.

Quite Interesting Fact
Finally, a quite interesting fact, courtesy of Brainloop: The average FTSE 250 company spends over £40,000 a year just developing and distributing “board books” in advance of board meetings. This equates to 71 Microsoft Surface Pro 3 tablets or one year’s supply of Starbucks coffee for 80 members of staff.
