Oops Apocalypse – More Bad News for Elite as Aderant takes 2 Enterprise sites in North America

Oh dear, more bad news for Elite on the opening day of its Vantage worldwide user conference in Las Vegas as Aderant announces two North American firms are swapping out Thomson Reuters Elite Enterprise in favour of Aderant Expert.
First up is the Canadian law firm Miller Thomson, with nearly 500 lawyers in 11 locations across Canada. The firm recently reorganized around practice groups, enabling a more nationalized and less office-centric approach. As a result, it found itself in need of a comprehensive, integrated solution that would seamlessly accommodate a slew of financial, administrative and client demands.
“One of the key differentiators was Aderant Expert’s tightly integrated approach, which eliminates the need to manage a variety of third-party applications,” commented Richard Van Dyk, CIO of Miller Thomson. “We needed a robust, cost-effective solution that addresses our key organizational and business initiatives while providing us with a secure path for the future. We are looking forward to the expertise and organizational professionalism Aderant brings as a business partner, as well as the full suite of out-of-the-box capabilities Aderant Expert delivers. Additionally, the system’s built-in flexibility will let us tailor the solution to changing requirements as our business evolves.”
Aderant Expert features a modular structure that’s built on a common framework, providing extensive capabilities in a flexible and scalable package. This approach ensures an efficient and tightly integrated solution, enabling essential business processes to share data and enabling users to share intelligence. In addition to core Aderant Expert functionality, Miller Thomson will extend the solution’s capabilities by implementing the Expert Paperless Billing, Found Time, On the Go Time, Collections, MatterWorks and BudgetWise modules, as well as the ClearView business intelligence suite.
“We’re looking forward to partnering with Miller Thomson to significantly improve their key practice and financial management systems,” said Aderant CEO Chris Giglio. “Our comprehensive approach and experienced Canadian team make us uniquely qualified to help Miller Thomson meet their changing business needs – now and long into the future. As the 30th law firm switch to Aderant from Elite in the last few years, Miller Thomson’s decision reflects that more law firms are seeking powerful, easy-to-use, capabilities that create operational excellence today, while supporting growth for the future—and Aderant is working hard to fill that void.”
Next up is Maynard Cooper & Gale, which has selected Aderant Expert to replace the firm’s legacy Thomson Reuters Elite Enterprise installation. Aderant Expert will support Maynard Cooper’s dynamic business requirements as it expands its geographic footprint beyond its historic base in Alabama. Founded in 1984, Maynard Cooper & Gale has more than 230 attorneys and offices in Birmingham, Huntsville, Mobile, Tuscaloosa and Montgomery, as well as in San Francisco, California. Part of the Lex Mundi global network, Maynard Cooper has developed national and global expertise, and it plans to extend its reach with the establishment of additional locations outside Alabama. A top priority is implementing a modern practice and financial management system that can help drive that growth.
“We need a unified, robust legal solution that will grow with us,” commented Ray Bullock, Chief Operating Officer for Maynard Cooper. “Aderant stood out with its focus on the legal market and commitment to helping us efficiently manage our business. We were looking for a modern and flexible solution that’s built for today as well as the future. We want to minimize use of third-party applications, and Aderant Expert’s all-in-one integrated approach will do that. And the software’s extensive matter management and business intelligence capabilities will enable us to intelligently and profitably drive growth.”
