Document assembly software provider HotDocs has appointed former Axios Systems chief technology officer and vice president of support services Scott Leckie as its first-ever CTO, as it expands its senior leadership team and approaches the 100-staff milestone.
Leckie will take on global responsibility for the HotDocs development teams, providing technical direction for the company and shaping the next generation of HotDocs products.
At Axios Leckie, who has worked within the IT and software industry for almost thirty years, was responsible for architecture, technical design, strategy, integrations, post-sales support operations and the company’s global cloud solution.
Leckie’s hire into the newly-created CTO role is a reflection of HotDocs’ growth in size and development activity, according to CEO Russell Shepherd, who told Legal IT Insider: “HotDocs group now have a substantial transatlantic development effort spread across an increasing range of on premise and cloud solutions. We are now approaching 100 staff in total across the group, with a substantial and growing development group.
“We felt with an ever expanding team we wanted to bring in a CTO with greater experience from a larger company. Scott has deep experience in both on premise and cloud solutions and will add depth to our senior leadership, as we have ambitious plans to increase our pace of growth as our investments in development mature.”
HotDocs in October announced the arrival of Steve Spratt from Noble Systems into the newly-created role of senior vice president & general manager of HotDocs International. Spratt is charged with building on the company’s existing success and driving growth across all geographies outside of the United States and Canada.
The hires follow a year where HotDocs has on boarded several new distribution partners to meet demand across international jurisdictions, and formed a technology partnership with K2 to provide an off-the-shelf integration of the companies’ two products.
New distribution partners include Eversoft in Poland; Micro Business Solutions in Serbia; Nybiz in South Africa; Parthos in Ireland; Ascertus in the UK; Contesto in the Nordics; Legis in Columbia; Acmark in Czech Republic; and ATS Tecnologia in Brazil.
HotDocs Market, which launched a year ago and offers 7000 templates from a range of legal publishers in the US, now has 2000 subscribers from small US law firms and is expected to continue expanding rapidly as HotDocs adds more publishers.
Shepherd said: “Scott is a fantastic hire for HotDocs, as we further refine and enhance our product suite in line with our significant growth plans. With our innovative, US e-commerce and document assembly platform, HotDocs Market entering its second year of operation, and the newly available HotDocs Hub proceeding through several new iterations throughout 2016, it is the perfect time for Scott to join and add his considerable experience to our product development plans.”
He added: “The CTO appointment is part of us upgrading our management team to take on the challenges of a rapid growth business.”
