EMEA head of TR Serengeti (now Legal Tracker) joins MLex

The EMEA head of Thomson Reuters Legal Tracker – the in-house eBilling tool formerly called Serengeti Law – has left to join legal market insight company MLex, which was bought by LexisNexis in 2015.
Martin English moved this month to MLex, which provides market insight analysis and commentary on regulatory risk, to head its EMEA sales function. MLex was acquired in July 2015 by Lexis, to provide customers with in depth coverage of key developments in regulatory risk.
English’s move comes as Legal Tracker, which changed its name this year as part of changes to give it a “refreshed look and feel”, struggles to make anticipated headway in the UK, according to one in-houser.
In Europe, eBilling solutions are a newer phenomenon and, while there is an expectation in the market that that the trend towards eBilling will continue, selling to the in-house market is a far slower burn than on the other side of the Atlantic, where Legal Tracker is described by one insider as a “huge success.”
Thomson Reuters said it is making “good progress” for Legal Tracker in the UK market, which remains a very new market solution. “Our primary focus is to raise awareness of the solution and its benefits to corporate legal departments,” a spokesperson said.
Legal Tracker has approximately 20 corporate clients which are based in the UK/EMEA (apparently with many more in the pipeline), alongside quite a large number of clients based around the globe but which have substantial legal teams based in the UK and EMEA.
“As take-up of the Legal Tracker solution continues to grow, we will be expanding our existing UK-based support and implementation team as required,” the spokesperson said.
Thomson Reuters declined to say who is replacing English as head of Legal Tracker.
