Gilbert + Tobin to roll out NetDocuments

Leading independent Australian law firm Gilbert + Tobin is to roll out NetDocuments across its three sites and 550-plus staff, as NetDocuments also announces support for and integration with Microsoft Office 365.
Gilbert + Tobin, an iManage customer of around 15 years that services corporate and government clients across the APAC region and globally, will upgrade its on-premises DMS to NetDocuments native cloud-based service to achieve greater usability, mobility and security.
“This DMS transition is very strategic for the firm and ultimately leverages modern technology to elevate the level of customer service we provide to our clients, which directly supports our firm’s commitment to innovation,” said Mitch Owens, head of IT operations at Gilbert + Tobin, which has offices in Sydney, Melbourne and Perth.
“NetDocuments’ user-centric platform provides the productivity tools that unlock our people from their desks with inherent mobility, client collaboration, and an intuitive, feature-rich interface – something we simply weren’t able to achieve with the previous on-premises DMS.”
NetDocuments announced at the start of 2015 that it was investing in a data center, offices, and a supporting team in Sydney in response to increasing global demand for its solution, following the acquisition of Decisiv Email from Recommind.
Owens added: “As we pursue more business in the financial services and government sector, the ability to detail that our critical data stores have industry leading compliance such as IS27001, HIPAA, and SOC 2 Type 2 will ensure we meet the requirements of current and future clients. And, the local Australian-based datacentre infrastructure ensures our data always remains within Australia.”
The announcement follows last week’s news of NetDocuments’ support for and integration with Microsoft Office 365, enabling the DMS functionality of opening, editing, creating, and searching within the native Microsoft Office 365 applications across desktops and mobile devices. The integration incorporates NetDocuments’ security and information governance initiatives by keeping content centralised in the firm-wide DMS while securely interacting with Office 365, improving end-users’ ability to interact with and create content regardless of location or device.
Paul Wyatt, NetDocuments’ APAC sales director, said: “NetDocuments’ ‘cloud-first’ approach to software development and integration, as well as the close alignment and strategic relationship with Microsoft and Office 365, make NetDocuments the innovative platform of choice as law firms increasingly look to take their practice into the future. The NetDocuments solution aligns perfectly with G+T’s own innovation strategy, allowing the Gilbert + Tobin team to work with clients and startups to explore better ways of meeting client needs, new business models and more efficient business processes.”
