World Software Corporation is ramping up its focus on the UK and European legal document management market with the launch of Worldox Cloud UK, as it also prepares to unveil a new joint venture with Workshare.
Worldox Cloud UK is a cost effective software as a service solution offered exclusively by World Software’s UK reseller, Copyrite, utilising data centres in the UK.
Speaking to Legal IT Insider, World Software’s president, Ray Zwiefelhofer said: “I’m a stickler for having data centres on local soil.”
Copyrite, which has had a commercial reseller relationship with Worldox since 2014, has already hired dedicated Worldox sales staff and has 17 other sales staff who will begin to spread the word of the new, cheaper cloud offering.
This latest development follows the 2015 announcements of Worldox Cloud Australia and Worldox Cloud Canada, which has just signed up its 10th client.
Worldox, which offers firms the option to host their DMS on premise, in the cloud or both as part of a hybrid arrangement, typically counts small to mid-sized law firms as clients.
Zwiefelhofer said: “Our system for the five to 10 or 20 user installation is easy to set up, costs a lot less than our competitors and we can do it all day long. It’s harder for Am Law providers to come down into a smaller market.” He added: “We’re pretty nice guys too. Folks like to deal with us.”
Headquartered in New York, Worldox has handed Copyrite responsibility to provide local support in the same time zone.
While Worldox has made noises in the past about European expansion, it has yet to crack the UK market. However, in a demonstration of its renewed intentions, at the start of the year Worldox signed up a reseller in Ireland for the first time, using Cork-based IT services company Legal IT, led by legal IT operations director Brian Kenneally.
Zwiefelhofer said: “It’s about strategy and knowing the market, and we know the market really well.”
The deal comes as Worldox, which has a client base of 6000 companies in 52 countries, prepares to unveil at ILTA in August a new joint venture with Workshare in the collaboration space. Currently further detail is under wraps.
It has also held behind the scenes discussions with Microsoft regarding support and integration with Microsoft Office 365. However, Worldox does not give users the option to store documents outside of the DMS and Zwiefelhofer said: “In 365 there is no option to hit save and force the user to put the document in Worldox. We are working on our back end in 365 slowly but surely and as Microsoft gets the tools, we will be able to talk more about it.”
