This event is CPD certified
As the legal sector responds to trends in new technologies and business structures, this timely discussion will assess the next steps for law firms and other legal service providers in adopting emerging technologies, maintaining a competitive advantage and responding to changes to client and business needs in a developing market.
It follows the latest SRA marketplace report on IT and Innovation – which outlined an ambition to develop a safe ‘innovation space’ for regulated firms and individuals – and will provide delegates with a timely opportunity to engage on commercial attitudes towards regulation and legislation, what technology means for legal practice, and next steps for innovative services, products, business models and methods of delivery.
Planned sessions are expected to focus on the challenges and opportunities driving organisations to consider new approaches in delivering better services – including impacts of the continued unbundling of legal instructions, increased take-up of technology, changing workforce structures and the emergence of non-law firms using ABS licensing as a route into the market. With a recent report by The Law Society indicating that the total value of legal services to the wider UK economy is £25.7 billion, delegates will also have the opportunity to engage on the responsiveness of legal providers to changing consumer expectations and service developments – in terms of value, innovation and data security – as well as the specific areas of legal practice in which innovative strategies and ideas are more prevalent than others.
The conference will bring together Members of both Houses of Parliament, senior government officials and regulators involved in this area of public policy, together with law firms, chambers, legal businesses and wider professional services, investors, consultants, training providers, consumer bodies, academics and members of the national and trade press.
