Trustmarque and Workshare Join Forces to Help Companies Ensure Data Compliance

Legal IT Newswire: York, UK, 2nd August 2016:
Trustmarque Solutions Limited (part of Capita PLC), today announced a new partnership with Workshare, global specialists in secure file sharing and comparison technology. Under the deal, Trustmarque will be able to offer Workshare’s file sharing solution exclusively to the healthcare and public sectors until the end of 2016. Workshare’s solutions allow users to create, share and manage content from any device, in a secure environment; ensuring compliance with key legislation – including the incoming EU General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) set to come into force in May 2018.
With research finding over 15% of files currently shared in the cloud contain sensitive data[1], such as health data or personal information, unmanaged file sharing presents a serious risk to businesses. Many employees, to facilitate working on the move or from home, use public file-sharing applications which are not fit-for-purpose to meet governance requirements. Failure to comply with GDPR, which requires firms that store data to build data protection into system design and infrastructure, can result in fines of up to 4% of global revenue.
Workshare 9 groups together individual applications for document comparison and metadata removal in a single portal, which includes Workshare’s file sharing functionality. Workshare gives full control and visibility of file sharing, from desktop email to mobile file downloads; Workshare 9 is available as a SaaS solution from Workshare. Trustmarque will be delivering Workshare’s hosted application from its private UK-based data centre which is IL3 accredited; this is the enhanced data security level required for ICT used in the public sector.
“Documents are a businesses’ currency, and compliance with legislation is not just an IT issue but a business issue – for everyone from the CIO to the risk officer. With increasing regulatory pressures affecting businesses in all sectors, our partnership with Trustmarque will enable us to deliver the benefits of Workshare to a wider audience,” commented Barrie Hadfield, CTO, Workshare. “While Workshare is well-established in the legal and financial industries, this partnership will provide us with a great route into healthcare and public sector customers.”
“Data governance and security concerns are at an all-time high for our customers, in light of the pressure created by events such as the Panama Papers leak,” commented James Butler, CTO, Trustmarque. “In heavily regulated industries, such as the legal, healthcare and public sectors, dealing with sensitive information demands efficiency, accuracy and security to ensure regulatory compliance. Businesses must therefore act now to avoid falling foul of legislation. With Workshare’s solutions, we can offer our customers a way to work productively and securely in the cloud.”
