Financial services legal data consulting firm D2 Legal Technology has appointed Peter Newton as COO. Newton was formerly director of business origination at Sapient Global Markets and has been on gardening leave over the second half of the summer.
Newton will be responsible for scaling the D2 business, including developing new services and alliances to support D2’s mission to improve the way financial institutions manage, treat and optimise their legal contract data.
D2 was founded in 2011 by Akber Datoo, who himself worked at Sapient as a consultant specialising in capital markets legal documentation. Prior to Sapient, Datoo was an associate in the derivatives & structured finance group at Allen & Overy.
D2 earlier this year hired Urmi Ohri, a sales and business strategy specialist with a strong background in financial services in UK and international markets, as global head of sales and business strategy.
