RAVN Systems has entered into partnership with leading legal IT consultant Neil Cameron, who will help law firms to identify AI opportunities in their business and also leverage AI to increase the accuracy of client estimates.
RAVN, a London-based AI, enterprise search and search management company that was launched in 2010, has a broad range of current, planned and potential applications for its solutions, which extracts and interprets information from unstructured data and pushes it into searchable formats.
While RAVN’s law firm engagements now include Berwin Leighton Paisner, Linklaters, Reed Smith and Travers Smith, it is still, with the aid of hires including David Lumsden, ex CEO of Tikit, and Gareth Thomas, ex Tikit sales director, evolving its product to fit different use cases.
Cameron, who has worked in or around the legal sector for 30 years, will work with law firms to identify a range of AI opportunities using business impact analysis, analysis of dependencies and integrations as well as applying cost-benefit analysis techniques.
According to RAVN and Cameron, the pre-packaged exercise can be undertaken in five days, at “a low and contained level of cost” that “will identify what you should be doing with legal AI and why.”
Cameron will also work with law firms to apply RAVN’s technology in their own pricing of client matters, helping them to improve the accuracy of client estimates, with the ambition of significantly improving the realisation of the forecasted sum.
The move comes as CIOs report that senior partners in their firms are increasingly asking how they should be engaging with AI initiatives, often under pressure from clients.
Cameron said: “We hear of many managing and IT partners asking their CIOs, ‘what are we doing about all this AI I keep reading about?’
“We can now help with this conundrum.”
Peter Wallqvist, CEO at RAVN Systems commented: “We are delighted to be collaborating with Neil on a new use case for our AI Engine. By providing law firms with insight they need to more accurately forecast and budget future work they can ensure they deliver an overall improved service to their clients”.
