Breaking news: RAVN Systems appoints David Lumsden as CEO

Less than six months after RAVN Systems hired former Tikit CEO David Lumsden as chief strategy officer, Lumsden has taken over the role of CEO from RAVN co-founder Peter Wallqvist.
The appointment comes amid a period of significant growth for RAVN, which has recently relocated to larger premises in London and opened in the Netherlands. It is an indication of the AI, search and knowledge management provider’s future growth ambitions: Lumsden’s appointment to CEO centres on his experience within the legal IT and professional services market, where between 2000 and 2013 he was CEO of Tikit, which floated on the London Stock Exchange in 2001 and was acquired by BT in Group in 2013. Prior to joining Tikit, Lumsden spent seven years as CIO at the international law firm Ashurst LLP. His career with RAVN began as advisor to the board in 2014.
Wallqvist, who co-founded RAVN alongside CTO Jan Van Hoecke, professional services director Simon Pecovnik and COO Sjoerd Smeets, will take on the role of chief strategy officer.
In this new role, Wallqvist will form RAVN’s strategic initiatives to communicate, develop, execute and sustain its success within the markets it currently operates in, as well as exploring how RAVN’s technology can be applied to new opportunities.
RAVN’s recent wins have included Travers Smith, Withers and Reed Smith, as well as BT within the corporate sector. It has entered into a partnership with respected IT consultant Neil Cameron to identify and develop business use cases, as well as a partnership with leading legal management consultancy firm Fireman & Co.
Wallqvist said: “I am delighted to have found someone with David’s experience to work with RAVN to lead us through our next period of growth. David has a deep understanding of RAVN’s technology and our core values to ensure we deliver the highest standards to our clients. I am excited about the future of RAVN and working closely with David on the next stage of RAVN’s evolution”.
Lumsden added, “RAVN has a strong reputation in the markets we are currently operating in and I am delighted to take on the challenge to deliver our next stage of growth. Having moved from a start up to a medium sized business RAVN has achieved a lot to date and has become a strong brand. I am looking forward to working with Peter and the rest of the leadership team to drive the business in the next stage of growth’.
