Startup corner: The Link App receives external investment

Legal desktop app The Link App has received investment from Jenson SEIS and EIS Fund 4 in order to “take it to the next level.”
Founded by family lawyer and CEO Lauren Riley, best known for her appearance on reality TV show The Apprentice, the Link App is a desktop app designed to improve communication between lawyers and their clients. Clients install The Link App on their smartphones to receive regular updates from their lawyers direct to mobile. Exchanges via the app are encrypted.
The Link App completed its beta testing phase in 2016 and, in a significant boost for the UK startup, Sir Nigel Knowles, former global co-chairman of DLA Piper, joined its advisory board in 2016. Ruth Daniels, former GC of CPA Global is also among those on the Link App board.
Riley said: “Since launching The Link App I’ve been blown away by the legal market’s enthusiasm for a fresh approach to client communication. This investment from Jenson SEIS and EIS Fund 4 enables us to take the business to the next level. Law firms recognise clients are crying out for lawyers who are responsive and accessible. Differentiating themselves this way using the app is an easy win”.
The sum of the external investment is undisclosed.
