In another major Am Law 100 win for Aderant, Proskauer Rose has elected to move from Elite Enterprise to Aderant Expert, with implementation of the practice management system expected to begin immediately.
The 725-plus lawyer New York-headquartered firm selected Expert after a competitive pitch and a proof of concept that is understood to have begun in the summer of 2016.
The win follows Elite’s announcement in 2016 that it will not update Enterprise after Q2 2016 and bug fixes will end on 31 December 2022, in the expectation that firms will move to its flagship PMS 3E. Moves away from Enterprise to Aderant Expert this year include New York white shoe elite firm Cleary, Gottlieb, Steen & Hamilton, in a deal announced in May.
Other significant recent wins for Aderant from Elite include Brown Rudnick, Sutherland Asbill, Quarles & Brady and, in the UK, Stephenson Harwood.
In April 2016, Aderant announced top 30 global law firm Davis Polk had elected to swap out its bespoke PMS for Aderant.
In contrast, many of Elite’s recent Enterprise conversions have been mid-market firms, prompting one Legal IT Insider reader to comment, when Aderant announced Cleary as a client: “Interesting/exciting times at Aderant. Despite the Expert advances over recent years with its modern lawyer facing applications you always felt that a stick that the competition would beat them with was to question the global financial compliance and scalability of the product. Clearly more and more larger clients are being convinced that Aderant have a strong answer in this area.” He added: “As ever though, proof must remain with a successful implementation.”
Headquartered in New York, Proskauer has 13 offices on four continents. It joins existing large Aderant clients such as Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom; Greenberg Traurig; Gibson Dunn & Crutcher; and Mayer Brown.
Speaking at the time of the Cleary win, which coincided with the announcement that 500+lawyer firm Frost Brown Todd had selected Aderant, Chris Cartrett, Aderant’s executive vice president said: “Our market penetration continues to be bolstered by partnerships with leading AmLaw 200 firms such as Cleary Gottlieb and Frost Brown Todd, which lends credence to our strategy and development.
“We’re excited to see what the rest of 2017 has in store for the organization and look forward to continued partnership with our clients.”
