Technology and outsourcing boutique Radiant Law has officially entered the software business, licensing out its Word toolkit RemarkableX on a subscription basis to clients that now include the in-house legal teams at Siemens and Sky, with BT currently trialling the tool.
RemarkableX, a toolbar of over 50 features in Word that helps legal teams speed up contract review, is now available to clients ‘on a credit card’ at £30 a month per user, or packaged up in an enterprise agreement for larger numbers of users. Radiant has set up a separate company, called Remarkable, as the corporate entity for its software sales business. Remarkable does not provide legal services and is not governed by the Solicitors Regulation Authority.
Siemens has been using RemarkableX for three to four months and is in the process of rolling it out to its UK legal team, with plans to extend that arrangement worldwide.
Sky has used RemarkableX for a number of years as part of a managed legal service and is rolling the tool out to another part of its UK legal team in what looks set to become an enterprise agreement, while BT has been trialling RemarkableX for around three months now.
RemarkableX started life as Radiant’s internal contract review tool and it has steadily been extended to Radiant’s managed legal services clients, achieving, according to Radiant’s co-founder and CEO Alex Hamilton (pictured), “rave reviews.”
Hamilton told Legal IT Insider: “In-house teams rarely get prioritised by IT and have little access to the LawTech that can help them. RemarkableX is easy to install, doesn’t need IT support, gets rid of a bunch of pain in day-to-day work and let’s transactional lawyers focus on adding value to the business.”
This is the latest in a series of steps by Radiant, which earlier this year saw the departure of co-founders Andrew Giverin and Jason McQuillen to PWC, to diversify its client offering, having in February announced that is collaborating with LexisNexis on the exploration and development of new technology solutions for clients, in particular around contract analysis and process improvement.
