Law Society: New partnership with Seedrs to help members crowdfund legal tech

The Law Society of England and Wales has entered into an exclusive strategic partnership with startup crowdfunding platform Seedrs, which will entitle its members to preferential rates on the partnership services that Seedrs offers.
Under the new partnership Law Society members will be given access to a number of Legaltech deals before they go live on the platform, discounts to Seedrs services and will be able to contribute mentorship as well as capital where appropriate.
The deal, which is being formally announced today (17 October) at the Legal Geek conference but has already been reported by City AM, is intended to encourage investment in startups by Law Society members and facilitate a more interactive and innovative approach to technology.
The Law Society is hoping that the move is a step towards encouraging members to embrace new technology within their own firms.
“While lawtech is still in its infancy, a host of startups are already changing the way legal services are delivered – making the sector an appealing prospect for frustrated legal professionals like me, looking to future-proof their industry,” said Seedrs’ chief legal officer Karen Kerrigan (pictured).
