Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer, which partnered with Kira Systems in 2016, has signed a multi-year renewal with the Toronto-headquartered machine learning contract analysis software provider.
The Magic Circle firm, which selected Kira after a year-long trial of a number of different machine learning-based solutions, initially used Kira in its Legal Services Centre in Manchester to support transactional work across all practice groups but in a statement out today (25 May) said: “A wide variety of projects have been run through Kira, covering M&A, regulatory and compliance matters. These have spanned across a majority of Freshfields’ global offices in New York, London, Europe through to Hong Kong.”
The same statement said: “In addition, by combining Kira with other leading technology solutions including HighQ and HotDocs, the firm is able to deliver services with a high level of transparency and efficiency.” Freshfields also works with Leverton in Germany.
The Kira implementation program sits within the firm’s recently created Legal Technology Operations team, led by Jamie Whalebone (pictured).
