It’s a double win for Tikit and BigHand as Peterborough-headquartered law firm Hunt & Coombs selects case management system P4W and BigHand Digital Dictation.
The selections were kickstarted when Hunt & Coombs, which has four offices and over 100 staff, set about a review of their internal processes with the aim of driving increased efficiencies.
Hunt & Coomb’s legacy case management system was time-consuming to use, with the legal secretaries having to copy and paste case numbers from one system into another in order to complete transcriptions effectively: yes, really. The decision was made to review the technology and explore other ways of streamlining their processes to ensure optimum efficiency within their secretarial teams.
Tracey Thorpe, IT training and systems development manager at Hunt & Coombs said: “We selected Tikit’s P4W system for its ease of use and impressive array of integrations available. We then looked into BigHand’s Digital Dictation, and were very impressed with how intuitive the system was and how well the integration between the two systems had been built. We knew that being able to access a BigHand dictation for a specific case number, from within the case management system, would make our secretaries jobs much simpler and save them a lot of time when transcribing. Fee earners can also dictate from within P4W, using BigHand, which maximises these time savings even further.”
The firm has fully rolled out BigHand to all users ahead of implementing Tikit P4W in October. The timeline was agreed in order to ensure users were familiar with BigHand Digital Dictation before the P4W is in place. Thorpe said: “Our users took to BigHand very well, with one fee earner commenting that they had never dictated so much, thanks to how user-friendly the system is. BigHand’s project management was also superb, giving me the confidence I needed to ensure the project’s tight deadlines would be met.”
Hunt & Coombs are also using BigHand Go to enable dictations to be sent whilst fee earners are on the move and plan ultimately to roll out BigHand Speech Recognition.
BigHand and Tikit P4W have been offering tight integration for years. Here’s what we had to say in 2015 about a BigHand digital dictation win:
Forty-strong corporate and private law firm Beswicks Legal has selected BigHand’s digital dictation solution with additional mobile app functionality to replace the firm’s incumbent DDS provider, as part of a wider technology upgrade to help increase firm-wide productivity and provide an enhanced customer experience. Beswicks implemented BigHand, as it offered seamless integration with the firm’s new case management system, Tikit Partner for Windows (P4W), and could support its move to a Microsoft-based mobile strategy.
Tim Knight, Business Operations Manager, Beswicks Legal, explains: “We were early adopters of digital dictation, but as part of a wider system upgrade we wanted to harness the benefits of a fully integrated case management, digital dictation and mobility solution. BigHand was recommended to us by our case management provider and the strength of their combined technology offering became evident very quickly. BigHand was able to support our strategic move to an integrated solution, offering seamless integration with P4W and a superior mobile app that would provide our team with greater flexibility and increased efficiency whilst out of the office, which in turn would enable us to offer an enhanced and more responsive customer service. Bringing BigHand and Tikit in has enabled us to successfully make the transition to a fully integrated solution for managing our casework flexibly and efficiently, and BigHand’s digital dictation and mobility solution has been an integral part of that. As we move forward, we see great potential for further added-value and we’re also starting to look at bringing in speech recognition for further gains.”
