Nominations for the inaugural Changing Lawyer Awards close on 27 July so make sure you get your application in this week. The awards, which have been launched by Litera Microsystems, recognise individuals, firms, and companies in the legal industry for their role in embracing and driving change, whether through new technology, service models, or behaviour. Legal IT Insider editor Caroline Hill is among the judges.
The awards stem from their Litera Microsystems’ publication, The Changing Lawyer, which was first published in 2017 as a collection of articles, which explored many of the changes taking place in the legal industry.
“Working with legal professionals inspired us to create The Changing Lawyer publication because we wanted to acknowledge those galvanizing change in the delivery of legal services,” said Julian Morgan, Litera Microsystems VP of marketing & partnerships, adding: “The Changing Lawyer Awards is our way of recognising those individuals and organizations that are shaping the industry of the future.”
The Changing Lawyer Awards has four categories of recognition:
– The Outstanding Law Firm of the Year Award will recognise a law firm that has completed a transformation in the way they provide legal services, be it through process changes, creative billing arrangements, or some other innovation.
– The Outstanding Lawyer of the Year Award will recognise a lawyer that has encouraged adoption of new technology or services, improving client acquisition or retention while exploring market trends and using them to improve client relations through cost control & efficiency.
– The Disruptor of the Year Award will recognise an alternative legal service provider or legal tech startup that introduced a new technology that has disrupted the wider profession or offers a special expertise in tech, processes or the legal space.
– The Outstanding CIO of the Year Award will recognise a CIO who most effectively introduced a new technology or process which has enabled the firm to deliver better service to their clients.
The Changing Lawyer Awards nominations are now open. Self-nominations are welcome as usual. The deadline for submission is July 27. Nominations can be submitted on the awards website.
The category finalists will be announced on 10 August and the winners will be announced at ILTA on August 21.
