Legal tech mover and shaker: X1 Appoints former Fronteo head Craig Carpenter as CEO

In a big hire for new eDiscovery player on the block X1, former Fronteo CEO Craig Carpenter has joined as its new CEO, taking over from interim head Tom McGovern.
Carpenter has a long pedigree in the industry: before Fronteo, Carpenter was SVP of Sales at Kroll Ontrack until its acquisition by The Carlyle Group, prior to which he was CMO and COO of AccessData, a leading forensics and cybersecurity technology provider.
“Craig has a stellar reputation in the industry as someone who has helped Global 1000 corporations and their outside counsel utilize technology to solve many of their biggest problems,” said John Patzakis, executive chairman of X1.  “The timing here is perfect, as the challenge of finding, analyzing and acting on relevant information within skyrocketing volumes of unstructured data for regulatory, litigation and corporate compliance purposes has become acute for global corporations and their outside counsel.  We are ecstatic to have such a widely respected leader in charge of X1 and are confident Craig will help accelerate the strong growth X1 is experiencing.”
X1 has been known as a desktop search tool for 15 years but also finds, monitors, analyses, collects and processes ESI for myriad use cases, including regulatory compliance, litigation, internal investigations, GDPR compliance and defensible data migration or deletion.  Carpenter said: “X1 makes what is technically an exceptionally difficult process incredibly simple and easy.  The sky is the limit for X1’s future.”
