Spurred on by a year that has seen it raise $13m in Series A funding and revenue grow by over *500%, Tessian (formerly CheckRecipient) has opened its first office outside of the UK in New York.
The Park Avenue South office is headed by Ben Freeman, who has relocated there from Tessian’s London office.
Tessian is an intelligent email security platform that prevents misaddressed and unauthorised emails – which, it will remind you, was the biggest cause of data loss reported to the ICO in 2017.
Founded in 2013, Tessian raised the $13m Series A funding in June, led by Balderton Capital and existing investor Accel. As of June when we wrote about the funding, it had grown from 13 to 50 people.
Freeman tells us: “We have had an amazing year: Series A, new office, incredible new customers and annual recurring revenue is up by over 500% in the last 12 months. After incredible success and beating our projected forecasts we are excited to announce we will be opening our first US office, which will be based in New York, to spearhead growth there.”
Tessian, which was co-founded by Tim Sadler, Tom Adams and Ed Bishop, three engineering grads from Imperial College, counts Dentons and Clyde & Co among its clients. Freeman told us: “We’re working with many globally renowned law firms and financial institutions and are excited at the prospect of what the US office will allow us to achieve.”
If you missed it first time round, here is a great interview with TechCrunch, which goes into detail about the fundraising and Tessian’s plans: https://techcrunch.com/2018/06/18/tessian/
