Clifford Chance is the latest firm to launch an app to help clients in the event of a cyber attack. Clifford Chance Cyber Assist, which you can download from Google and Apple app stores, takes users through the complex web of requirements that regulators around the world expect businesses to take in the critical hours and days following an attack.
Developed by Clifford Chance’s lawyers and technologists, the app connects businesses with a global team of Clifford Chance cyber specialists around the world ‘at the touch of a button’.
In addition, the app provides users with an overview of the cyber landscape across multiple jurisdictions, with information on the latest laws and regulations across Asia-Pacific, Europe, the Middle East, the UK and US. This information is drawn from Clifford Chance reports such as “Cyber Security: what regulators are saying around the globe”, Clifford Chance’s latest global legal and regulatory cyber briefing.
Jonathan Kewley, Co-Head of Clifford Chance’s Tech Group says: “Cyber is now a legal risk, not just an IT issue. Cyber attacks are on the agenda of every government, board and law maker globally. The risks for businesses are unprecedented and growing, and fines for failing to respond correctly to an attack are eye watering. Our Clifford Chance Cyber Assist will help our clients to prepare for and respond to attacks: it’s a cyber emergency call.”
Clifford Chance Cyber Assist adds to Clifford Chance’s growing stable of tailored solutions available to clients and follows the release of the firm’s Dawn Raids app in February 2018.
Other firms to launch cyber apps include Taylor Wessing, which launched data breach mobile app TW:Cyber Response in May 2017 and Eversheds, which in March 2018 launched BreachLawWATCH, a mobile app that provides easy access to data breach statutes.
