Allen & Overy has at last found a replacement for former chief technology officer Ian Storer, with the out of sector appointment of John O’Donovan, who joins from TalkTalk, where he was chief architect.
Aside from TalkTalk, O’Donovan has held senior tech roles at Dow Jones (CTO, consumer products and platforms); Financial Times (CTO); and the BBC (chief architect, BBC news and sport interactive technology). In a statement today (8 January) A&O says: “John has a strong track record of deploying his technology skills to help businesses exploit digital disruption.”
Andrew Brammer, IT and shared services director commented: “With the firm’s advanced delivery capability widely recognised in the market and a major technology transformation under way, John joins at a time when his skills and experience will help the firm to stay ahead of its competitors.”
Storer left A&O in April 2018 to join Swiss bank UBS after over a decade at the magic circle law firm.
O’Donovan’s arrival follows the recent hire by Linklaters of Ashurst’s IT director Bruna Pellicci as CTO; a role that was created following the promotion of director of technology, Matt Peers, to global chief operating officer.
