Ravel Law founder Nik Reed has joined Axiom spin-off Knowable as SVP of product and development. In his new role, Reed reports directly to CEO Mark Harris, working with Knowable’s engineering team to help the enterprise contract analytics and intelligence provider accelerate its expansion and growth into new markets.

Reed led Ravel Law’s integration into the LexisNexis analytics portfolio when the company was acquired in 2017. At LexisNexis, he transformed the company’s flagship product into what is now known as Context, which analyzes the language of individual judges’ to find arguments they find most persuasive and uses data analytics to vet expert witnesses.

Knowable, whose client base includes Dell, GE and Nestlé USA, was spun off from Axiom in February this year. It gives corporate clients visibility into the relationships that govern their businesses. By converting legal language into structured data, Knowable helps its clients find, search, organize, and analyze their contracts, providing portfolio level views of risks, obligations, and entitlements.

Earlier this year, LexisNexis and Knowable announced a joint venture in which Knowable will continue to operate independently while also benefiting from access to LexisNexis’ brand, resources and infrastructure.

At the time the JV was announced, LexisNexis Legal & Professional CEO, Mike Walsh, said: “Bringing this expertise together with our own strengths in AI, machine learning and natural language processing, as well as our vast content sets, will enable us to deliver new and unmatched innovations that will transform the way our customers work. This partnership with Mark, Alec and the rest of the Knowable team is in line with our organic growth driven strategy, supported by the addition of targeted data sets and analytics that naturally complement our existing business.”
