David Thorpe reaches career…Pinnacle

Legal tech veteran David Thorpe has joined UK-headquartered consulting group Pinnacle as its new commercial director, following a period of “rapid client and company growth.”

Thorpe will head up the client account management function, looking to drive continued performance and cost improvements for clients through the sale and delivery of managed services and Pinnacle software solutions.

He will also oversee an overhaul of account management processes and systems, and lead the product development board, serving as that critical interface between client and vendor to ensure solution needs are being met.

Pinnacle’s managing director Mike Bailey said: “The appointment of David Thorpe comes at a strategically important time for Pinnacle. We have grown our business on the strength of our client partnerships, going beyond that initial project to see how we can help optimise systems and usage over the medium- to long-term.”

Pinnacle in its current incarnation was formed from the 2017 merger of three of the leading names in legal software consultancy: Pinnacle International Consulting, Opes Consulting and Athenian IT Developments.

Bailey added: “With so much new business in hand, it’s more vital than ever that we build out our account management capability so we can stay fully invested in relationships and keep adding tangible value. David’s detailed knowledge of the legal industry and the challenges faced by law firms makes him an ideal fit – I have no doubt that he will be a huge asset to our organisation.”

Thorpe has worked in the legal sector for over thirty years and calling him a legal tech veteran is something of a running joke – we gave him the label when he moved to slicedbread in 2016 and four years later it feels right to wheel it out again. He left slicedbread in December.

Thorpe spent 11 years between 1993 and 2005 as Thomson Reuters Elite EMEA general manager, and had spells at Pilgrim Systems and Aderant before joining Peppermint in 2012.
