The first of our new webinar series went off with a bang on 8 April when Legal IT Insider editor Caroline Hill spoke with Michele DeStefano, professor of law at the University of Miami and founder of LawWithoutWalls (LWOW) on the topic of ‘What now for innovation post COVID-19.’
This is an area of particular expertise for DeStefano, who is author of Legal Upheaval and New Suits – Appetite for Disruption in the Legal World. Through LWOW she also brings teams together from across the world to create business proposals for projects of worth that combine business, technology and law.
We are grateful to DeStefano and everyone who listened and joined in, in what turned out to be a really interactive discussion among legal leaders across the US, EMEA and APAC.
One of the most interesting conclusions was that law firms and corporate legal teams now need a playbook for how they operate in a remote, virtual way. Given that remote working removes much of the structure, hierarchy and behaviours that we have come to rely on in an office, and given that it is unlikely we will ever go back to all working in an office at the same time, firms need to plan and map a new rulebook for the future.
