Burges Salmon – a UK top 50 law firm with more than 445 lawyers across three UK offices – has migrated its on-premises implementation of iManage Work to iManage Cloud, working with implementation partner Morae Global (which acquired Phoenix Business Solutions in 2019.)
This is the first phase of a two-year cloud programme that will see it migrate its entire IT architecture and application portfolio to the cloud.
“Part of our proposition to lawyers is that they will be working with modern technology that helps them to meet the changing needs of our clients – and providing a state-of-the-art document and email management platform like iManage Cloud is central to that,” said Eddie Twemlow, head of IT and Operations, Burges Salmon. “Our business is built around documents and iManage Cloud helps us to facilitate client collaboration.”
iManage Cloud has helped the firm to adjust to the ongoing COVID-19 situation and the remote working it has necessitated. Morae provided program management, technical design support, and strategic planning. The final cutover to the new platform took place over a single weekend in February 2020.
“From the point of view of our people and clients, the switchover to iManage Cloud landed gently,” said Twemlow. “We have a strong internal team and our partnership with Morae and iManage worked well.”
Announcing the wider cloud strategy (and referencing the move to iManage) at the start of October, Twemlow said: “We’re delighted that the first phase of our Cloud Programme has been implemented with great success. As we move our Technology and Operations departments away from time-consuming infrastructure maintenance and ‘keeping the lights on’, we’re driving a 180-degree turn in mind-set towards our clients in order to align our technology with our unique client requirements.”
Burges Salmon is also utilising iManage Records Manager to strengthen its existing records retention policies and compliance with GDPR and other regulations; iManage Share for secure collaboration; and iManage Threat Manager for advanced threat detection.
