UK print software vendor Kutana has acquired a major share in document template provider Brochet, to help provide more customised document production support to its law firm clients.
Both Kutana and Brochet are independent legal tech businesses founded more than 25 years ago. Between them, they share 40% of the top 200 UK law firms as clients and Brochet’s clients include UK top 25 law firms Bird & Bird, Womble Bond Dickinson and Fieldfisher. Where Kutana helps firms with the likes of eSignatures and print management to help law firms manage and digitise their document creation process, Brochet creates Word templates for reports, bids, legal agreements and letters.
Kutana says that its investment will enable collaboration in software development around creating and managing documents in Microsoft Word with a focus on future integrations with client systems and client feature requests.
Nikki Pike, founding director at Brochet commented: “We are very pleased to welcome Kutana as a major investor in Brochet. We share a common commitment to simplify user experience and we believe this will secure the long-term future of the business to the benefit of both clients and staff.”
Rob Simcock, a director at Kutana who will be a director on Brochet’s board says: “This is an exciting opportunity, and the two businesses are a natural fit. As an independent group, we will be able to provide more personal, extensive and customised document production support to law firms.
“The past two years have clearly demonstrated that our clients need and want responsive technical support to help them adapt to changes in working environments. Sharing the expertise and knowledge across our development teams means we can quickly deliver relevant products and features.”
