Deloitte has appointed former Thomson Reuters chief strategy head Richard Punt as the new global leader for Deloitte Legal, effective 1 June 2023.
Punt, who before Thomson Reuters was CEO of Allen & Overy’s flexible resource arm Peerpoint, has recently been working closely with Deloitte Legal’s senior leadership, helping to develop a strategy for the next stage of its development. His new role will see him lead the implementation of this strategy across Deloitte Legal’s global network of nearly 3,000 legal professionals operating in more than 75 jurisdictions.
This is something of a return to the fold for Punt, who before joining A&O, spent 15 years as a partner at Deloitte UK.
Punt, who will be based in London, said: “Our aim at Deloitte Legal is to bring new business value to general counsel through integrated, multidisciplinary solutions. We want to work with GCs to help them manage risk, realise opportunity and drive change for their businesses. We want to enable their uptake of AI in this defining moment for the legal industry. We will bring the full range of Deloitte’s insight and expertise to the solutions we develop for them. We are building a distinctive team of outstanding legal professionals equipped with the skills and mindset to meet clients’ changing needs, both in major events and ongoing operations.”
