Katja Ullrich-North has joined UK top 50 law firm Simmons & Simmons as a partner and director of knowledge management.
Ullrich-North was previously global head of knowledge management at Hogan Lovells. She started out her career at Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer and has held senior knowledge roles at Linklaters, Bird & Bird, BAE Systems and Norton Rose Fulbright. It is significant that Ullrich-North is one of a growing number of business services hires to be made a partner. Her hire follows that of Darren Mitchell, former global COO of Hogan Lovells, who last year joined Simmons as COO to be responsible for business services functions and operations.
Messaging Legal IT Insider about the new role at Simmons, Ullrich-North said: “Simmons is building something unique. The firm has a clear and deliberate strategy focused on transforming legal service delivery, and calibre of people coming together to make this vision a reality is inspiring.
“The firm understands that knowledge management is now more critical than ever, and I’m looking forward to working with the team to reinvent and reimagine the role of knowledge in a leading international law firm.”
