TalkingTech Podcast: New tech and key Momentum take aways, with Aderant’s CEO Chris Cartrett and CTO Andy Hoyt

In our latest TalkingTech podcast, Legal IT Insider’s editor Caroline Hill spoke with Aderant’s president and CEO Chris Cartrett and chief technology officer Andy Hoyt about the Atlanta-headquartered company’s recent product announcements and updates, including what the launch of cloud platform Stridyn means for customers.

Aderant in the past few months ran user conferences in Nashville and London and while Stridyn caused the biggest buzz, Cartrett commented: “For me personally, the largest takeaway was that we have spent the last year or more focusing on lifting the talent inside Aderant. Andy Hoyt is a key part of that; and Doug Matthews in the product team. We have been upskilling people and that is why you are seeing new products coming to market.”

Aderant in 2023 launched AI ‘virtual associate’ MADDI and has just launched a new Accounts Receivable Automation solution for automation of cash receipt processing, among other announcements.

New tech launches and acquisitions are cloud-focused, and Cartrett addressed the key question as to how Aderant responds and develops for what is coming down the track, at the same time as meeting on-premises customers where they are today.

We also hear from Hoyt as to how Aderant is making the cloud transition easier and making sure there are no limitations when it comes to integrations and customisations, given that no firm wants to compromise on the workflows that enable them to service their clients in their own way.

We discuss Aderant’s new technology partnership program, which was announced during its London Momentum conference, with the introduction of BigHand for BI and pricing insights. There will be more announcements like that and Cartrett said: “People need to know that their applications will work seamlessly with one another.”

Cue Stridyn, which is a cloud systems integrator platform. Hoyt said: “It’s a framework that is intended to make sure that your software can work in harmony.” Hoyt made an analogy with Facebook/Meta, which is a set of services, tools and products for third parties to develop and create their own applications.

Cartrett added: “A lot of people say ‘this is our platform’ but it’s an application. The goal here is for Stridyn to be a true platform.” There are many benefits to creating a platform but one will be the ability to better analyse data across different systems. Stridyn Analytics is in private preview and we discuss how it will allow you to analyse data from multiple systems in order to glean deeper intelligence.
