Swedish-founded work allocation provider Wemble has won Massachusetts-headquartered law firm Faber Daeufer & Itrato as a client as it shifts its focus to the US legal market.
Wemble’s people analytics and smart work allocation platform is designed to help law firms optimise their resource management. It integrates with Microsoft Teams to improve collaboration and decision-making and can help firms to achieve better diversity ratios.
Faber, which has offices in Boston and New York, began a pilot with Wemble around a year ago. David Schrag, senior director of information technology at Wemble said: “We’ve been a cloud-first organization for years, and Wemble’s tight integration with Microsoft Teams made the setup seamless. Adoption was quick, and attorneys actually thanked us for introducing it. The Wemble team has been incredibly responsive to our suggestions for enhancements, creating a user-friendly experience that requires minimal training.”
Partner Sumy Daeufer added: “Wemble gives me visibility into who in our firm has both the availability and the expertise to take on projects. The information is accurate and timely, streamlining our project teams.”
Wemble, which was founded in 2019, works with around 100 practice groups globally across 10 law firms. The shift in focus to the US market has seen Wemble integrate with US practice management systems and Hugo Falk, founder and CEO of Wemble, said: “We are from Northern Europe but now we’re focusing on the US, where millions of dollars of revenue is lost as a result of bad work allocation, because associates get burned out or are overlooked, and because allocating work at the start of a matter takes days.”
The legal industry has long struggled with inefficient resource management and outdated systems. Falk told Legal IT Insider that many law firms are still using highly manual processes and spreadsheets. He said: “In many firms, there’s no clear process for work allocation, and resource managers often base decisions on outdated information. Wemble solves this by providing real-time insights, allowing leaders to assign work based on facts, not assumptions.”
Jeroen Plink, former CEO of Clifford Chance Applied Solutions and co-founder of LegalTech Hub, is an investor and chairman of the Wemble board. Plink, who is based in New York, said: “Wemble’s platform is a game-changer for law firms. By integrating people analytics into operations, firms can make data-driven decisions that reflect the true capabilities and availability of their teams.”
