Leading UK law firm Leigh Day selects Elite 3E Cloud and ShareDo

UK top 100 law firm Leigh Day has selected Elite 3E Cloud as its new finance system following a 12-18 month selection process supported by Lights-On Consulting, with Helm360 selected as implementation partner. The firm also recently selected ShareDo as its new Microsoft Azure-hosted case management system.

Established in 1987, Leigh Day specialises in medical negligence, personal injury, employment and human rights issues, and is known for its ‘David and Goliath’ legal battles. It has grown significantly in the past decade and the now 300-lawyer/800-people firm says that its legacy practice management system – Linetime Liberate (part of LEAP) – was not well suited to handle the complexities that come with such growth, nor the multi-faceted work which the firm undertakes.

The firm was looking for a SaaS platform and through the selection process decided on Elite 3E Cloud, with IT director James Harrison observing to Legal IT Insider: “We first explored Elite in 2013, but around that time it was acquired by Thomson Reuters and was a little too complex for our needs. Since then, we’ve grown, and Elite have transitioned to the cloud as well as changed ownership, and now feels like everything has aligned perfectly.”

The Leigh Day selection team liked the fact that Elite 3E Cloud is now a true SaaS offering and Harrison said: “Elite also support Power Apps, and the fact that they offer open APIs is a huge advantage. Plus, 3E will seamlessly integrate with the firm’s other tech solutions, including ShareDo.”

“The true-cloud architecture of 3E was an important factor in our decision, but also ensuring that we chose a solution that would provide the greatest operational benefits to the firm,” added Gurveer Virdi, finance director at Leigh Day. “Of all the solutions we considered, 3E stood out as the clear choice to underpin our business both now and in the future.”

For its implementation, Leigh Day will be supported by Helm360, which is an Elite premier delivery partner.

In terms of its case management selection, Harrison says the firms looked at lots of competitors commenting: “ShareDo offers seamless integration with Microsoft, enabling us to fully leverage M365 and Power Apps. It also has a modern interface that feels less like a traditional ‘legal’ case management system, which is a big plus for us and our clients.”

ShareDo is a SaaS work management platform used by the likes of DLA Piper, DWF, Linklaters, Herbert Smith Freehills, Hill Dickinson, Shepherd & Wedderburn, Brabners and Freeths.
