Raphael Shure leaves Aderant and legaltech to join Aderant’s sister company PowerPlan as CEO

Aderant’s chief operating officer Raphael ‘Rafi’ Shure has taken on the role of president and CEO of energy company PowerPlan after more than a decade at Aderant. PowerPlan is owned by technology company Roper Technologies, which also owns Aderant.

Reflecting on his time working in the legal technology world, Shure says, in a post shared with Legal IT Insider that Aderant will publish shortly: “The past decade has been marked by significant transformations and groundbreaking advancements in the legal industry’s ever-evolving landscape. As a more than ten-year industry veteran and technology executive, I witnessed firsthand the waves of change that reshaped the way we innovate, operate, and connect with law firm clients. From the rise of cloud-based technologies and the introduction of artificial intelligence (AI) to the shifting dynamics of firm operations, this period has been a journey of adaptation and growth.

“Reflecting on the defining changes the industry witnessed over the past ten years, technology adoption stands foremost. Law firms were previously never viewed as early adopters and drivers of technological advancement. However, we have seen a significant shift in recent years, with firms pushing software-as-a-service (SaaS) to improve access to information, leverage AI capabilities, and enhance remote work experiences. As a result, we have seen the emergence of new C-level roles within firms, including chief innovation officers, to help accelerate and navigate change.”

Shure was promoted to executive vice president and COO in 2021, to oversee all internal and client facing operations.

Commenting on Shure’s new role and his time with Aderant, president and CEO Chris Cartrett told Legal IT Insider:

Rafi has been instrumental in helping Aderant become the company we are today. For more than a decade, he has served on the Aderant executive leadership team, helping to guide our organization through significant M&A growth while successfully navigating and addressing the needs of our most valuable assets — our employees and clients. Rafi has left his mark and made a significant impact on our business; we are proud to see him move into this next chapter and are beyond grateful for all his contributions to Aderant.

“We are actively working to fill Rafi’s shoes on our executive leadership
team, but we have extremely strong leadership throughout our organization, and I believe this change gives others an incredible opportunity to demonstrate their own leadership growth.”
