Merlin launches GenAI document intelligence platform Alchemy for investigations and discovery

Merlin Search Technologies today officially launched Alchemy, which it describes as a fourth-generation GenAI document intelligence platform designed to turn unstructured information into actionable intelligence.

CEO John Tredennick says that Alchemy represents a fundamental reimagining of Merlin’s previous DiscoveryPartner platform, based on extensive user feedback. DiscoveryPlatform was launched in 2023, so a very early mover in the GenAI discovery space.

Powered by LLMs including Claude and GPT, Alchemy is able to deliver reporting and synthesise insights across thousands of documents.

Messaging Legal IT Insider over email, Tredennick said: “This is a significant milestone in our journey that began several years ago when we set out to make it easier for legal professionals to find, analyse, and report on information in large document sets. The name Alchemy reflects exactly what our technology does—transforms raw data into valuable intelligence that professional teams can actually use.”

Alchemy also introduces real-time LLM cost estimation before running queries. This innovation directly addresses concerns about GenAI expenses with clear, transparent pricing, enabling informed decision-making about analysis scope.

On Wednesday, March 13th, EDRM will be hosting an Alchemy Showcase webinar featuring several of Merlin’s advanced GenAI users from around the world demonstrating Alchemy’s new, game changing AI and Generative AI functionality and enhancements. You can sign up for that HERE

“While other vendors struggle with basic GenAI implementation, we’re delivering a fourth-generation platform that fundamentally reimagines document intelligence,” said Dr. William Webber, Merlin’s chief data scientist.”
