Updated 15 May to include details of Morae’s go-to-market information governance strategy with iManage.
Morae Global Corporation today (14 May) announced that it has acquired end-to-end information governance (IG) software platform Gimmal.
Founded in 2002, Gimmal helps enterprises and government agencies tackle mission-critical information governance challenges at scale across the full information lifecycle.
Morae will be integrating Gimmal’s IG software product, including digital and physical records management – within its existing suite of legal and compliance solutions. While Gimmal’s products overlap with Litera, iCompli and Morae’s biggest partner iManage, Morae’s chairman and CEO Shahzad Bashir told Legal IT Insider they have agreed a go-to-market strategy that will mean they won’t compete for iManage’s law firms clients. They will instead focus on winning corporates in big pharma, financial services and government. “We have an understanding that we wont go after iManage’s clients and we have agreed to collaborate on those three corporate verticals,” he told us. Morae will base its recommendations on what the best-in-class system is for an organisation, Bashir said.
Bashir added in a statement: “Our clients want complete, comprehensive solutions that address increasingly complex legal, regulatory, and operational demands. Whether the need is software-driven or service-led, our mission is to deploy our significant expertise to create the best-in-class, advanced tech-based solutions that are most relevant to them. The combination of Gimmal’s software with Morae’s MorAI technology, services and consultancy will deliver an unmatched breadth and depth of offerings in our field, meaningfully enhancing the solutions we provide for our clients’ information governance and management needs.”
This transaction marks Morae’s sixth acquisition since Lateral Investment Management’s investment in the company in 2019.
