The Institute of Legal Cashiers has surveyed users of legal accounts software to find the most highly rated supplier. The winner by a large margin was AlphaLAW, with JCS Computer Solutions in second place.

Simon Meehan, AlphaLAW Managing Director said, “We are thrilled and honoured to receive this accolade and to know that AlphaLAW is so well respected among our clients and ILCA members. This award is particularly important to us as the ILCA is recognised throughout the legal profession for its high standards and dedication to the education, support and promotion of excellence for specialist financial and administrative personnel working within law firms”.

The survey, which was conducted via the ILCA website and its journal Legal Abacus asked members to rate their firms' suppliers in the following areas: adequacy of training, ease of making postings, bank reconciliations, interest calculations, compliance to SARs, month end routine procedure, quality of help desk support, VAT return calculation, clarity of ledger card, nominal postings, bill postings, ease of reporting generally, upgrades & reaction time to regulatory changes

ILCA chair Alison Gorringe said “We continue to remain strictly impartial when asked about specific legal software suppliers – no recommendation or advice is provided. However, to help our members provide their employers with an informed choice we produce a Listed Suppliers Guide which focuses on legal accounts, administration, and services. This aims to assist members to research, advise or help their firms choose a software solution that best suits them.” The formal presentation of the ILCA Solicitors Software Users Award will take place during the Institute’s Annual lunch on 20th September.
