Our client is a IT services company with an online legal service platform. They help businesses do more for themselves to solve legal issues more quickly and reduce legal costs. They are looking to recruit a Legal focussed Business Development professional join their senior management team.

The role:
This person will help build the business in the large law firm sector, working with Top 200 law firms to develop new online service propositions for their clients based on their Legal Service Platform (LSP). Securely hosted in the cloud, and fully configurable by the company for law firms and their clients.

This service LSP will be used for:

1. Help their clients create routine legal documents online – so they can complete daily legal processes more quickly, with less cost and with lower contract risk.
2. Communicate online – so they can efficiently deliver targeted legal support and advice to more people within their client organisations.
3. Output data and management information – so they can better report to their clients and proactively address their business risks.

The candidate:
We need someone with the gumption to build on their early sales success and develop a significant new business stream. Initially a six-month contract with a sales/business development focus, this role could well evolve into leading this area of the business across sales and marketing, consulting, implementation and account management. During the first 6 months, you’ll work closely with founder and CEO.

You will need to have the credibility for law firm partners to want to listen to your suggestions for new legal service models and to want to introduce you to their clients to explore them. You will also need to have insight into the legal needs of corporate clients and how law firms service those needs. So you will certainly have worked in the legal industry before.

Essential:
You may have consulted in the legal profession or practised as a lawyer, in which case you may be looking for a new career opportunity in an entrepreneurial environment. Or maybe you have sold technology into law firms that has involved working alongside fee earners as well as IT or KM.

It would be great if you have an MBA or marketing qualification – remember, we’re hoping to find someone who can eventually lead this business.
