Talking Tech & Videos
Yes, we know this has been a bit like Bob Dylan’s Never Ending Tour but time now for our final submission to the 2014 Legal Industry Video Awards – number #54 – with an educational piece from Andrew Haslam and The Legal Review on What is eDisclosure? This video uses a new platform that combines video with PowerPoint-type slides and has a DvD-like menu system so you can easily locate and jump between individual ‘chapters’ rather than have to fast-forward/rewind to find the bits you want to view again. For this reason, rather than a straight embed of the video within the site, we are using a pop-up.

The video is intended to provide a summary and flavour of the Claims Conference for those who did not attend the event. The Claims Conference predominantly tackled best business practice issues for those involved in claims in the legal sector. The production is by mmadigital and it’s good to see Chrissie Lightfoot of Entrepreneur Lawyer giving a bravura demonstration of how to use a sound-bite opportunity – you don’t mumble, ever so humble, you hold forth. Finally, Litéra accept the Ice Bucket Challenge – with the biggest bucket ever – and offer to sponsor customers who take the challenge
We’re still running our ALS Ice Bucket Challenge stories and this time it is the turn of Litéra, who were one of the three companies Dean Sappey of DocsCorp first challenged – the other two: Workshare and PayneGroup have already taken the challenge. Litéra up the ante with the biggest bucket of water yet – and are offering to chip in $100 a time on behalf of any of their customers who also accept the challenge. And all respect for the Litéra video’s production values!
Following the challenge set by DocsCorp last week, Donna Payne and some of her team from the Seattle office of PayneGroup accepted the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge. The sound is not good on this clip but Donna nominates Traveling Coaches, Profiscience Partners and Jeffrey Roach and EncoreTech to take up the challenge. And well done Team PayneGroup for doing it in the street – and outside a Starbucks. We also like the fact Donna appears to use a goldfish bowl. (Please note: no fish were harmed in the making of this video.)
Now it is the turn of the ediscovery fraternity to undergo the Ice Bucket Challenge with the affable (and sometime Orange Rag contributor) Andrew Haslam taking a bath of ice-and-water in a good cause…

We spotted this infographic recently: Business Attire or Business Boring? Now I know my name is Charles Christian and not Christian Dior but is this the best anyone can do? The year is 2014 yet the women in this infographic seem to have been dressed by the Huddersfield branch of Dorothy Perkins circa 1974. As for the men’s fashions, where is that stalwart of the networking event: the novelty/comedy tie? Where is that favourite of techies everywhere in summer: the skanky shorts and skanky T-shirt combo? And, for those people who work from home, where is the always-popular all-day dressing gown?
Welcome to our 41st submission to the Legal Industry Video Awards. This entry is from the UK law firm Foot Anstey to introduce a new passive time recording system (IntApp TimeBuilder) to the firm. The new system enables Foot Anstey lawyers to be more efficient by providing them accurate time recording and removing the manual burden of this task so that they can concentrate on more valuable activities for their clients. Written & directed by Duncan Eadie, Production Exesight Photography.
Here’s a video case study about Lydian a Belgian business law firm founded in 2001, with a headcount of about a hundred people located in the company’s current premises in Brussels and Antwerp, and soon in a third regional office in Hasselt. In this video, Patrick Franssens, CEO of Lydian, comments on why the firm needed a powerful and full-featured document management system (HP WorkSite) and Jan Vanherpe, ICT Manager of Lydian, explains the business value it created. Patrick Franssens concludes the video with a strong statement: “the I.R.I.S. solution is proving a major improvement for both Lydian as a company and for every single one of our employees; we have calculated that we work on average 35% more efficiently than before, while our people are – and feel –more productive than ever.”
