Our client is a rapidly expanding international law firm employing over 1000 staff. The firm has a first class reputation as an employer and has invested massively in technology over the past three years. To facilitate and ensure its technology supports the firm to the best ends, it is now seeking an Enterprise Architect. The post holder will play an important role in ensuring the firm gains a maximum return on its investment in technology.
The post holder will be responsible for core data, applications, and bespoke development for the firm. The prime objectives will be to support the selection of the right set of business software solutions and ensure each has am active roadmap that considers the on-going enhancement and upgrade path for each solution. Additionally, the post holder will take oversight responsibility for the firm’s software development processes. The post holder will develop their own application architecture and manage the development approach and priorities.
The critical objectives will be:

•Work with the IT Leadership team to develop an application architecture roadmap that is aligned to the needs of the firm, and designed to maximise the return on IT investment for the firm
•Develop key relationships across the firm to capture requirements that will shape the roadmap
•Establish an architecture group to improve collaboration across those with a significant stake in the major applications (who may not necessarily sit in IT)
•Define an Enterprise Data Architecture that describes the firm’s master data elements
•Manage and direct the activity of the development team, including the team leader, four developers, and selected external development resource that is used from time to time
•Introduce improvements to the solution delivery process that contribute to visible reductions in support issues, allowing the teams to focus more effort on delivering new functionality
•Apply best practice approach to the development of new technology, adopting the most appropriate methodology to suit the problem
•Influence the criteria for the selection of new business-facing software solutions for the firm, and the investment priorities

Role Responsibilities:
Manage the architecture roadmap to ensure that priorities are well documented and understood, and that relevant initiatives are appropriately justified and implementation projects have appropriate priority.

Lead the Applications/Development team and develop them into a high performing team

Be a member of the the IT Leadership Team contributing to the management of technology

Requirements:
Qualifications and Technical Experience:
Ideally educated to degree level or with appropriate professional experience.

Proven experience and/or certification in the following technologies is required:
• Document / Content / Case Management
• MS Office suite
• Enterprise use of MS Windows
• Prototyping and development lifecycles

Experience or understanding of the following will be beneficial:
• Business Intelligence solutions
• Formal Enterprise Architecture methods (e.g. TOGAF)
• Practice management solutions
• Microsoft SharePoint
• Infrastructure design
