Our client is a major international law firm with offices across four continents. The firm has a first class reputation, backed up by high quality fee earners and support staff. The firm is now urgently seeking an Exchange Messaging Analyst to cover its offices in European region, the position can based either in the City of London or Brussels with responsibility for supporting c5000 mailboxes

The Enterprise Messaging Analyst works as a member of the Global Services Organisation Europe (GSOe) Technology department and is primarily responsible for the day-to-day administration and support of the Firm’s European and Middle East messaging infrastructure. This includes Microsoft Exchange 2003 and 2010, email archiving, Ironport appliances and instant messaging. In addition, he or she will assist with the maintenance and support of the server and storage platforms within the region, and provide follow-the-sun support for the Messaging infrastructure in the USA and Asia.

Responsibilities and duties will also include:

•Installs, manages and maintains a consistent and highly-available Messaging platform, according to Firm standards, for different categories of Messaging functions and hardware. This includes, but is not limited to, application installation and configuration, maintaining service packs levels, day to day management, administration and support.
•Provides design, planning, installation and research input for all relevant technologies and information services as listed in the experience/skill requirements
•Assists with the provision of adequate internal technology training for GSOe and any European and Middle East practice office technology staff as required.
•Assists with the operation of the Global user support and helpdesk functions: enters tickets, answers calls, handles escalating issues, and resolves problems as appropriate.
•Creates technical, procedural, and report documentation as required.
•Provides regular reports regarding performance of messaging systems. This includes the specification of performance criteria.
•Pro-actively monitors, reviews, and escalates alerts and notifications regarding enterprise messaging and associated server systems. Works in conjunction with the Server and Storage Team and colleagues in the Messaging Team resolve issues.
•Carries out daily user administration duties related to the messaging and email archiving systems.
•Assists with planning and implementing firm-wide technology initiatives across Europe and the Middle East for the Global Services Offices or other relevant internal departments.
•Supports the implementation and compliance to all policies relating to data security, data usage, equipment usage, licensing, statutory laws, and any other globally or locally defined policies across all European offices.
•Works as part of Disaster Recovery Group to provide assistance with the operation, maintenance, and optimisation of Global & European Disaster Recovery Systems. Participates with Disaster Recovery exercises, tests, and the active Disaster Recovery team support rotation.
•Provides out-of-hours support of Global technology infrastructure as needed.
•Assists with special projects on various issues when needed.

As an Enterprise Messaging Analyst, you will be expected to apply your organisational and communication skills while displaying a positive, high-energy attitude. A Bachelor’s degree or Higher Education Diploma in Information Technology or related field is required. Equivalent work experience can be considered in lieu of Bachelor’s degree. Microsoft Certification (MCSE, MCSA, MCITP) or equivalent experience is highly desired. Five years’ progressive computer systems management and support experience required, preferably in a multi-site enterprise-scale environment. International Law Firm or professional services environment would be a distinct benefit. Five years’ experience with the installation, administration, and maintenance of Microsoft Exchange 2003 and 2010. Windows Server 2008 R2 and powershell experience is mandatory. Experience of managing and administering secure email, archiving, anti-virus and spam filtering systems required. Specific experience of Antigen, Ironport and Autonomy EAS would be beneficial. Experience with supporting and administering Enterprise Instant Messaging systems (Communicator / Lync) desired. Three years’ experience of installing, maintaining, and supporting Enterprise server, storage and backup systems – in particular HP Proliant Servers, Storage and Backup systems. Experience of Brocade SAN switches and Xiotech storage would be beneficial. Three years’ experience with Active Directory in a large multi-site Microsoft environment required. This includes, but is not limited to, understanding and supporting directory services, DHCP, DNS, and Group Policy
