Epiq to host breakfast of ediscovery champions

Epiq Systems Inc is hosting a panel debate on the use of technology to reduce costs in litigation. As the judiciary in the UK and the US take an increasing interest in litigation costs, general counsel are keenly scrutinising their legal budgets and the implications that these changes bring to bear on their law firms.

Technology Assisted Review (TAR) of documentary evidence has received judicial endorsement in recent cases both in the UK and the US. The panel discussion will include debate around the approach that courts are likely to take when considering arguments about the defensible use of TAR, the effect that TAR has upon law firms’ fees and how law firms and their corporate clients can expect to be penalised in costs if they fail to match up to the expectations of the court.

The event, which is open to members of law firms and corporate representatives interested in litigation and costs, will take place at 8.15am to 10am on Wednesday 27th June 2012 at 60 Cannon Street, London, EC4N 6NP. Breakfast and refreshments will be provided.

Attendance is free but registration prior to the event is essential.

The panel will feature Senior Master Steven Whitaker of the Queen’s Bench Division and Magistrate Judge Andrew Peck of the US District Court for the Southern District of New York. Laura Kibbe, Epiq’s managing director of document review & expert services will moderate the discussion.
