Five new legal websites to check out

• – a Legal TripAdvisor ?
David Sprake has been in touch to tell us about – an independent website with the goal of finding the general public a good solicitor by displaying testimonials, reviews and ratings left by clients. Once a solicitor firm is listed, simply allows testimonials from client feedback forms (and directly from clients) to be posted. The better the reviews, the higher in our  search listings they will appear. Solicitors listed have the option to remove a review (this will show up as review removed) or remove themselves completely (no fees whatsoever involved) at anytime giving them  control. The option to leave a response to a review is also available.

A basic listing is  free and allows for up to 100 reviews to be added – see Plus can independently promote great testimonials further with a gold or silver paid listing by tweeting/adding to Face book great reviews and placing banners on high traffic parts of the site. We can also enhance a firms listing page with further details/links etc – see

• JLT Launches instant chat function on Solicitors PI website
Mike Perry, Partner at JLT Specialty Limited comments on the launch and explains the need for greater interaction between brokers and consumers in the solicitors’ professional indemnity (PI) insurance market at the information gathering stage. “JLT has launched an instant chat function on our solicitors’ PI website. It’s there for firms who want to get quick responses to questions during this important decision making time before the October 1st renewal date” We’ve taken this approach because we want to go beyond just quotes – we’re providing new ways for solicitors to gather information and be informed. Visitors to the site can click ‘Live chat’ to begin a conversation form our dedicated Solicitors PI website ( where one of our dedicated team will offer assistance.

“The approach seeks to enhance solicitors’ experience of the buying process by giving them more control and a previously unavailable depth of interaction to help with the quotation process. It’s part of JLT’s commitment to delivering a personal, responsive service and will complement our promise to respond to all applications within 48 hours. We’ve taken our queue from the feedback of solicitors themselves, following extensive research into the market. For instance, many respondents to the Law Society’s most recent PI survey expressed concerns around a lack of communication during the renewal process, including delays in getting quotes. More than a fifth who had difficulty renewing found the process stressful or tedious. We believe that law firms simply require a flexible approach from their broker – based on fairness, quality and efficiency that removes ambiguity and delivers a fast response – especially sole practitioners and smaller firms for whom PI represents a proportionally greater investment of time and money compared to larger firms”.

• Tandem Law Supports Right To Buy Mortgage Claims
A North West Law firm has launched a dynamic website – – aimed at council home buyers across the UK who may have been victims of professional negligence. Mike Fong, Head of Technical & Legal Practice at Tandem Law, says “Thousands of people, right across the UK instructed their solicitors to help them achieve their dream of buying their own homes – and those solicitors failed their clients. The abuse centred mainly on brokers charging excessive fees which were taken out of clients’ discounts, either without their knowledge, or after having been incorrectly explained. While this was not illegal activity,  it was, however, professional negligence both on the part of the broker and the solicitors involved. Tandem Law are at the forefront of this search for justice, to fight for our clients’ interests – to get them the compensation they so richly deserve, and help restore the public’s trust in our profession.”
