Microsoft has reminded OEMs that as of October 22 this year, it will forbid them from loading Windows XP on netbooks. Redmond first laid down this deadline in
April 2008 and according, to research, Microsoft says 81% of US netbooks sold via retail now already come preloaded with Windows 7. (Hope they tell the Chinese as they are still shipping XP-based netbooks – XP is a much cheaper option for OEMs.)
