Global top 40 law firm Orrick is to replace its on premises iManage document management solution with NetDocuments’ cloud-based solution, citing NetDocuments’ ‘geo-aware’ storage architecture as a key factor in the decision.
Orrick, which becomes NetDocuments highest ranking client to date, is a 1200-lawyer firm across 25 offices that focuses on advising sector leaders in technology, energy & infrastructure and finance. NetDocuments’ technology architecture and flexible storage options will enable the firm to store content where it chooses, solving key data sovereignty and information governance issues. “The ability to separate our native cloud application from the actual storage layer of content enables international firms like Orrick to solve long-standing issues around data security and data sovereignty, while also achieving a global ‘one-firm view’ of firm matters and content – something very difficult to achieve with the traditional DMS technology stack,” said NetDocuments’ CEO Matt Duncan.
Collaboration was a key driver and Craig Dean, Orrick’s CTO said: “NetDocuments will provide improved features and functionality, but just as importantly it will enable our global teams to collaborate on a modern technology platform that will provide our lawyers and our clients the highest levels of data security, built-in mobility, and data storage flexibility.”
Orrick has consistently been recognised by the Financial Times as one of the top 10 most innovative North American law firms.
