Government courts IT project late – again
Not exactly news but more a case of the same train wreck continuing to go off the rails. Yes, more problems with HMG's Libra system for magistrates courts. The latest is problem is that because of 'data quality' issues relating to how minor criminal offences and how they are recorded on Libra, the Ministry of Justice will not be able to publish its Criminal Statistics for 2008 figures next month (November). Instead, they will now be published next year. (What's the betting the are published after the general election?) For the record, Libra has so far cost £444 million, which was three times more than the original estimate and it came in seven years late.
